Meet Alien Traxx: The Tanzanian Producer Creating a Sound That Feels "Different"
Elizabeth Music Group is proud to represent producers and songwriters from around the world, and one of those creators is Alien Traxx, a multi-genre producer based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Known for his emotionally driven productions and genre-blending sound, Alien Traxx has built an impressive catalog that continues to reach audiences internationally.
We sat down with him to discuss his journey into music production, the creative philosophy behind his sound, memorable career milestones, and why he chose Elizabeth Music Group for his publishing representation.
Tell us a little about yourself. Who is Alien Traxx, and how did your journey into music production begin?
Alien Traxx: I'm a multi-genre music producer based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I was born and raised in Njombe, Tanzania, where I grew up surrounded by music.
My journey began at a very young age, around Standard Two, when I spent most of my weekends with my uncle, who worked as a club DJ. My family also owned a nightclub, so music was always a part of my environment and upbringing.
After completing my secondary school education, my grandmother gifted me a computer, which became the foundation of my production career. That gift opened the door to a new world for me and allowed me to begin learning and developing my skills as a music producer.
How would you describe your production style, and what artists, genres, or life experiences have influenced your sound the most? What's your favorite instrument or plugin to work with?
Alien Traxx: My production style is unique and difficult to place in a single category. Many people tell me my sound feels different and unconventional, which is actually one of the inspirations behind the name Alien Traxx. I aim to create music that feels fresh, emotional, and sonically distinct.
The genres that have influenced me the most are Trap and R&B. I started producing in 2014, during a period when both genres were dominating the global charts, and their impact on my sound is still evident today.
When it comes to plugins, Nexus has been my go-to instrument for many years. More recently, I've fallen in love with Zenology and Kontakt because of their versatility and the depth they bring to my productions.
What project, placement, or accomplishment are you most proud of so far, and why does it stand out in your career?
Alien Traxx: I'm proud of every placement and project I've been a part of because each one represents a milestone in my journey.
However, if I had to choose one, it would be "Cheat" by Maua Sama.
This record holds a special place in my career because it reached audiences and platforms I never imagined my music would reach. It was also the first song that received recognition from Timbaland, one of the greatest producers of all time and someone whose work has inspired me since I was young.
Having a producer of his caliber react to my work was a memorable moment and a major source of motivation.
What made you decide to join Elizabeth Music Group, and what has your experience with the publishing roster been like so far?
Alien Traxx: I decided to join Elizabeth Music Group because of their artist-friendly approach and transparent way of doing business.
One of the things I appreciate most is their monthly royalty reporting and payment structure, along with a dashboard that allows creators to monitor their catalog's performance in real time.
My experience with the team has been excellent. They are professional, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping creators grow. Beyond publishing, they also create opportunities for catalog growth through sync placements and other industry opportunities, which adds tremendous value for producers and songwriters.
What does your creative process look like when you're starting a new beat or song? Are there any habits, techniques, or instruments you always come back to?
Alien Traxx: Music is a huge part of my life, so inspiration can come from anywhere. Sometimes I start with a drum pattern, other times with chords, melodies, or even a simple idea that captures a certain feeling. It all depends on what sparks the creative direction at that moment.
One habit that has helped me throughout my career is committing to finishing what I start. Whether I'm fully inspired or not, I push myself to complete the idea.
Over the years, I've learned that some of the beats I initially doubted often ended up becoming the most successful records. That experience taught me the importance of trusting the process and staying disciplined throughout the creative journey.
