His curiosity eventually led him to discover music production, and what began as a desire to understand how music was made developed into a lifelong creative pursuit.
Through challenges, setbacks, and moments when opportunities seemed to disappear, Champion continued moving forward. His journey has been defined by faith, resilience, experimentation, and a desire to build something bigger than individual production credits.

We sat down with Champion Beats to discuss his early curiosity about music, the story behind opening a radio as a child, his versatile production style, the experiences that influence his sound, his proudest accomplishments, his creative process, and why he chose Elizabeth Music Group for his publishing representation.
Tell us a little about yourself. Who is Champion Beats, and how did your journey into music production begin?
Champion: First of all, I was born with a love for music. Music has always been a big part of who I am.
When I was young, I actually wanted to become a DJ because, at that time, I believed the DJ was the person who created the music.
I remember being very curious about radios. I would always wonder, “Why is this radio making these sounds? How can it play music so loudly, sometimes even louder than I can hear myself?”
One day, I opened a radio because I wanted to understand how it worked and all I found inside were wires!
That curiosity became the beginning of my journey.
I wanted to understand how music was actually created, how sounds were put together, and how an idea could become a complete song.
From there, I started learning and experimenting with music production. The journey has not always been easy. I have faced many challenges and difficult moments while pursuing music, but through everything, I have always thanked God.
I could see my destiny ahead of me, and I refused to give up.
Today, I look at my journey and see that it is still unfolding. I believe the best is still ahead of me, and I trust God that where I am going will be even greater than where I came from.
How would you describe your production style, and what artists, genres, or life experiences have influenced your sound the most?
Champion: I would describe my production style as versatile, creative, and driven by emotion.
I don't like limiting myself to one genre because I genuinely enjoy creating different styles of music.
I produce and experiment with Afrobeat, Amapiano, Kompa, Zouk, Gospel, and many other sounds. Every genre gives me a different way to express creativity.
I have also been influenced by many great producers from around the world. I enjoy studying what major producers are doing, understanding their techniques, and then finding my own way to apply those ideas without losing my identity.
My biggest influence, however, is life itself.
The people I meet, the places I visit, the music I hear, and the experiences I go through all contribute to the way I create.
When it comes to instruments and plugins, I don't think I have just one favorite. I enjoy working with different sounds depending on the emotion and direction of the song.
But I particularly love working with guitars, drums, bass, and atmospheric sounds because they allow me to create movement and emotion within a production.
For me, the sound always has to serve the feeling of the record.
What project, placement, or accomplishment are you most proud of so far, and why does it stand out in your career?
Champion: One of the things I am most proud of is not only the individual songs I have produced, but the journey of building myself as a producer and building my own creative space through Championic Sounds.
For me, that represents much more than a studio. It represents resilience.
I have experienced setbacks, lost opportunities, and moments when things seemed like they were moving backwards. But instead of allowing those experiences to stop me, I used them as motivation to build again.
I am also proud of the opportunity to work with different artists and contribute to their musical journeys.
Seeing an artist come into the studio with an idea and watching that idea transform into a finished record is one of the most rewarding parts of being a producer.
What makes this stand out in my career is that I am not just chasing credits. I am building a legacy.
I want my work to create opportunities for artists, musicians, and other creatives, especially from Africa.
And I believe what I have achieved so far is only the beginning.
What made you decide to join Elizabeth Music Group, and what has your experience with the publishing roster been like so far?
Champion: Joining Elizabeth Music Group was a decision I made because I saw an opportunity to grow beyond production and become part of a wider professional music ecosystem.
As a producer, I understand that music is not only about making great records. There is also the business side - publishing, songwriting, rights, collaborations, networking, and creating long-term value from the music we make.
My experience with the publishing roster so far has been very positive. It has given me a better understanding of the importance of having your music properly represented and managed from a publishing perspective.
I also appreciate being connected to a platform where creativity and professional development can exist together.
Being part of the roster motivates me to continue creating at a higher level and to think beyond just the studio.

What does your creative process look like when you're starting a new beat or song?
Champion: For me, creativity starts with a vibe.
Sometimes an idea just comes naturally. Other times, I get inspired when I visit a club, a live event, or any place where people are playing music.
I listen to how people respond to different rhythms, melodies, and sounds, and that can trigger an idea in my mind.
I don't always sit down with a fixed plan and say, “Today I'm going to make this type of song.”
Sometimes I simply open my DAW, start playing around with sounds, and allow the music to guide me.
I usually start with the feeling I want the song to communicate.
From there, I may build around drums, a guitar, bass, chords, or a melody, depending on what the song is asking for.
One thing I always try to protect is the originality of the idea.
I can be influenced by different sounds, but I don't want to simply copy what is already out there. I want to take inspiration, add my own experience and creativity, and create something that feels like Champion.
For me, production is not just about technical skills.
It's about emotion, storytelling, experimentation, and knowing how to turn a simple idea into something that people can feel.
