Instrumental guitar artists can benefit from publishing representation even when a record label releases their music. The key question is whether the label also represents the underlying compositions or only handles the recordings.
An original guitar instrumental contains a musical composition even without lyrics. If you wrote it, you may own a songwriting share. Releasing that recording through a label does not automatically mean your compositions are registered or that eligible publishing royalties are being collected worldwide.
For artists releasing acoustic guitar, fingerstyle, ambient guitar, or guitar-based LOFI, this becomes particularly relevant as the catalog grows. Each release needs accurate writer information and ownership splits, including contributions from collaborators.
Elizabeth Music Group Publishing can review qualifying instrumental guitar catalogs, help organize songwriting information, register the compositions we represent, and collect eligible publishing royalties. We can also review older releases for potential registration gaps.
You do not necessarily need to change your release label to work with us. We would first review any existing commitments and contracts to determine whether your songwriting share is available for representation.
Our instrumental roster includes musicians such as LOFI jazz saxophonist Malosax and solo piano artists Will Collante and Diego Pindado. We understand that instrumental artists often build their careers through consistent releases and substantial catalogs.
Once signed, clients receive a royalty portal and access to our exclusive Discord community only available to our publishing roster, where we share creative opportunities and briefs. Participation is optional, and placements are not guaranteed.
We pay clients monthly in months when publishing royalties are received, subject to our $35 payout threshold. Smaller balances roll forward.
